This is a vector illustration incorporating various advanced techniques found in Adobe Illustrator, as well as design theory. Gradient meshes masked by clipping paths were the basis for the construction of this piece. With a strong focus on shadows and highlights, the complicated meshes give a full 3-D effect for this little guy.
Through color choices, positions and precise execution of the pen tool, a smooth, yet sharp, composition was accomplished. An orange to yellow gradient sits as the backdrop to compliment the blue color of his skin. A light shadow behind him indicates a light source and makes him pop off the page. You can view the outlines of the gradient meshes and clipping masks in the image at the bottom.
